This past week wasn’t exactly what I would call busy, but it did fly by. I worked off and on Monday-Friday, and it got progressively busier — Sunday was insane. Carol and I were the only ones working in the morning and early afternoon, and a couple of times, I was overwhelmed with worry that there wouldn’t be enough of us to get around and help everyone. But Sarah showed up at around 2:00, and that helped a lot. I’m glad that we are finally busy, but it is a little frustrating when we don’t have enough people on the floor, and people keep coming up to say, “Is there someone walking around that I can talk to?” ”I’ll be right with you,” I always reply, but even this doesn’t seem to satisfy them sometimes.
On Thursday, I had a nail appointment. I went to the salon early so that I could look around in the boutique, and boy, do they have some really cute stuff! I was very impressed, and everything was in what I like to refer to as “normal women sizes.” In other words, yes there were small-ish sizes for every garment, but there were also mediums and larges for curvier women. I love that. I love when places cater to every shape and size. Heather was super cute, as usual, and we gossiped while she painted my nails in Chanel Black Satin in honor of Halloween. I’m a little disappointed in that color, though. I only had it done four days ago, and with the silk wraps on my nails, it should stay on for at least a week and a half like the O.P.I. always does, but for some reason, this Chanel isn’t sticking! I guess I’ll just have to rely on the O.P.I. or consistently go over the Chanel with the Seche Vite next time. Hm.
I worked Friday, but I had Hallowen off. You’d think that I would have had some costume-related plans, but nope. I baked pumpkin-shaped sugar cookies with orange cream-cheese frosting Friday night to bring in the next day to my coworkers. They were very grateful and I think they really enjoyed the pick-me-up. Sarah looked so cute in her Snow White outfit, and Jody was dressed as “an old bat.” So fun. Josh came in at some point in his Joker costume, and I saw pictures — super scary! Greyson and I went out to a pumpkin patch, but were very disappointed. I was wearing a flowy black skirt, and the pumpkins were a ten-minute hay ride away. Hay on my thighs? No, thanks. If I’d been wearing jeans, that would have been one thing. But, I wore the wrong clothes and shoes, as is a usual occurrence for me, and Greyson wasn’t too keen on the idea of a hay ride, anyway. So we went to my house for dinner where we, my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend, MacKenzie all had our traditional Halloween-night dinner. We had so much fun together, and I was so glad that we were all there at once. What a treat. Grey and I watched “The Blair Witch Project” and cuddled up, and then we watched “Henry Poole Is Here” which is an incredible movie. He wasn’t so impressed, but I definitely was.
I woke up yesterday morning, and October was over. It’s crazy to think that November is here, just like that!
